On Sunday we began our quick journey through the book of Galatians. Our theme is "Walking in the Spirit", but as we noticed on Sunday, that was not the first concern of Paul when he wrote the letter. Paul's first concern was that the churches in Galatia had turned aside from the Gospel of Grace. They had begun to believe that they needed to "do something" to truly be saved. That something, in their case, was to return to the law and in fulfilling the law, find salvation.
It is not really that hard to believe. So many times, we turn aside from the Grace of God as well. Let's face it. The grace of God is truly an amazing principle of the Christian faith. God chose to reveal His great love for us by giving us ... that's right ... GIVING us salvation, not because of anything we do, but because HE is LOVE and HE is a GOD of GRACE! We, however, are prone to wander from the grace He's given us and to begin believing that somehow we're gaining "more salvation", or more "grace" by doing a long list of "good things". The truth is, as Christians we ARE called to turn from self and rely on God. We are called to obey when the Father speaks by his Word and by His Spirit. But obedience NEVER means we're earning anything. It simply means we've submitted to a life in the Spirit and in the Grace we've been given.
When a person is walking in grace his or her life will have some clear evidence. We can check the out to see if we've stayed in Grace, or wandered off. Here is the list from Sunday:
- Closed to the lost
- Self-focused life
- Fullness of Life
- Able to Stand
- Jesus focused life
I hope that you will return to GRACE if you've strayed. And if you've stayed in the grace of God, I pray that you will remain there for all of your days. It is the best place to be, in the safety, peace, protection, and salvation of the Grace of God in Jesus Christ.

Each week during our journey through Galatians, we will have one or two key verses. For every child up to age 15 who memorizes EVERY verse, we will be giving out a special reward.
You will need to work with your parents or another trusted adult to recite your verses and give evidence that you've done the work.
Don't miss the chance to memorize God's word and receive a reward for doing it.
This Week's Memory Verse:
I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel. (Galatians 1:6)
