Updates from the Elders

Rita Eby to Resign as of February 28

After more than 7 years of serving the church as Administrative Assistant, Rita Eby has decided it is time to pursue other interests and to serve the church through volunteer roles. Jim and Rita have served over that time as a wonderful elder couple for New Life and will continue to do so.

I am very grateful for all that Rita has accomplished in her years of service and ministry, and pray that God will richly bless her in this new season.

In the short term, we will be replacing a part of Rita’s role by hiring a part time Office Assistant. As a new role is developed and clarified, we will eventually move toward hiring an Executive Assistant for other roles that Rita was fulfilling.

Building a Home for New Life

The elders have recently formed a team, chaired by Johnny Branner. This team has grown out of our work as a building team, and is focused on discerning paths toward New Life building or buying a facility to house the ministry. A building would allow us to grow beyond what we have been able to grow at Lucy Simms, and would allow for a more intentional reaching out to the community with the emphasis on leading others to Christ, discipling for generations, and building strong families for the future of our City and the Surrounding County(s).

As we progress, we will be sharing more information. We look forward to the ways God is going to stretch us and grow us as we step out in a new area of faith.

Pastoral Study Leave Planned for 2014

After 20 years in full-time ministry, Pastor Kevin will be taking a three month Study Leave beginning June 1. The purpose of the leave will be for Pastor Kevin to focus on new areas of personal and ministry growth as well as a time of personal and family refreshing. During the months of June-August, the elders will work with several guest speakers/preachers.

We look forward to what the Lord is planning to do in Pastor Kevin and his family’s lives as he takes this opportunity to refresh and retool, returning to lead New Life into the next season of ministry and growth.
