Ask, Seek, Knock
Our study of James has been a challenge, a blessing and a journey into WISDOM that is found in Jesus. We have been challenged to LIVE OUT our faith in very practical ways. Life isn’t always easy and James is our reminder that we can reveal the deepest areas of faith when we walk through the trial and continue to honor and praise God through it.
For the year, our theme has been “Ask – Ask, Seek, Knock”. We have looked at asking by studying and praying through the Circle Maker materials, and our faith has grown to be bold in our “ASKing”. We have been “SEEKing” as we’ve studied the book of James, and in November we will turn to “KNOCKing” as we actively look to God for opportunities to share HIM with people we meet in the “everyday”.
During this season of “KNOCKing”, the Elders invite you to prayerfully consider joining us in 21days of prayer and fasting. As a church, let’s KNOCK on the door of heaven asking for opportunities to reveal HIM and HIS power and HIS glory and HIS miracles to people around us. The dates are set for November 1-21 and we invite you to prepare for this season of pressing into God as we move toward 2014.
Who are the people God wants to bless through you? What are the miracles HE wants to release as you hear and obey? How does HE want to be known by the people of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County as we take HIM and HIS glory to them every day? Let’s join together in prayer as we listen, obey and WATCH what God is going to do.
The elders have invited every volunteer from every New Life ministry to a special evening of THANKS for your ministry and service to New Life. We will meet on Wednesday evening, November 13 to share a simple dessert (Yes, I know it’s in the middle of the FAST, but you know it, so you can plan on this ONE exception … sorry to complicate your fast) and to be encouraged in the ministries you are carrying out at New Life. Please note the RSVP and reply to Rita as soon as possible. We hope to see you all there.*
*In case we missed anyone, please let Rita know.
Please make plans to participate in a special weekend together November 9 and 10. While we haven’t received confirmation on our speaker(s) for the weekend, we do know that the Mission Advocate Team is working hard to prepare a weekend of focus on the MISSION of winning the lost here and around the world. We hope to have more information for you in the coming days.
Building Team Update
The building team continues to pursue a more permanent rental or purchase option for our New Life worship center and family center. In the past month, the team has pursued a lease option in the North of Harrisonburg as well as several purchase options East of Harrisonburg. Please continue to pray with us for God’s direction and provision as we pursue a home for New Life. We also invite you to begin (if you have not already done so) to give to the Building Fund as a way of making preparation together for the next step for us as a church family. If you have questions or suggestions concerning a building or land options, please contact Johnny Branner.
