Looking through that list this past Sunday it was not difficult to find plenty of places where we are prone to fall short of this lofty reality ... LOVE.
Whether it is at home, at church, at work, or in some place of business, patience has a way of eluding us at just the right time.
The question we might do well to dig into is this, "How exactly does a follower of Christ actually LOVE in the way the bible describes love to us?" My answer is this. Get to know the love of God through Jesus, and embrace the way He has loved us and shown it to us. Perhaps one of the reasons we continue to see genuine love elude us is that we're trying to LOVE instead of embracing the LOVE we've already been shown.
When was the last time you reflected on the amazing love and grace shown to us in Jesus?
When was the last time you found yourself in tears of gratefulness for the forgiveness and love Jesus freely offered as He willingly left heaven, endured humiliation, rejection, and physical abuse, laid down his life (no one took it from Him) and rose back to life so that you and I could truly know LOVE ... the Love that comes only from the Father in heaven.
I encourage you today to reflect on and accept the Father's love in Jesus, and then to ask the Holy Spirit for a fresh anointing of LOVE to be lived out for all those you will relate to, at home, at church, at work, or in some place of business.
Father, fill us with YOUR love so that we will reflect it to all those who are watching. In Jesus' name. Amen.
