Embracing the High Calling of the Church

Listen Now Image Last Sunday we looked at the "high calling" of the leaders of God's church.  In 1 Timothy, Paul lays out high expectations for those who are called to lead in the Body of Christ.  As we acknowledged the high calling of leaders, we also remembered the high calling that each of us has to participate in and cooperate with what God is doing in and through the church.

I believe God is calling all of us "up" to embrace the highest purposes He has for us, and that these callings are birthed and strengthened in the church.  (God's Called Out People)

For too long, and for too many (especially in our western/American culture), the church is something we may feel is important, but it is one of the "many" important things we're involved in.  Raising our families, earning a living, enjoying life ... and church comes in there somewhere as well.

What would happen all of God's people would recognized the High calling of the Church and embrace our own role in that High Calling so that the Church and her purposes on earth came to the front of our lives and to the front of our energy, time and finances?  I believe the answer is that we would find our own lives more fulfilled, but that we would also see the mission of the church much more fulfilled than we see today.

Speaking of the High calling of the church.  Today I was reading in Mark 16 and I read the following:

And he said to them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Mark 16:15-18 (ESV)

While I have to say that I'm not all that excited about picking up snakes and drinking poison, I DO GET EXCITED about seeing people set from from demons, filled with the Holy Spirit, and the healing of  those who are sick!

As we approach our Sunday Morning gathering and our Corporate time of worship, may I invite you to come expecting?  If you have a need in your life, come prepared to have the prayer teams pray over you for healing and wholeness.  During our time of worship, you will have an opportunity to receive prayer for healing as well as provision for every need you are experiencing.

Let the church arise and truly be THE CHURCH and let the Glory of God fill our time of Worship so that the High Calling of the church draws us in to a place of seeing God move in power for His glory and for His purposes, and for His pleasure!

COME EXPECTING JESUS!
